Edit Photos Online for Free
Photobun is a free online photo editor with pro-level tools: layers, masks, selections, adjustments and filters. Open a photo, a RAW file or a PSD, remove a background in one click and export PNG, JPEG or WebP, right in your browser and without creating an account.
How to Edit Photos Online for Free
- Click Open an image, or drop photos and PSD files anywhere on the page.
- Edit with familiar tools: layers, selections, brushes, adjustments, filters and text.
- Open more images to edit them side by side as boards in the same tab.
- Export each board as PNG, JPEG or WebP, or save the whole thing as a layered PSD.
Pro tools, standard shortcuts
Same menu layout, tool names and shortcuts, so your muscle memory carries over. Free Transform, Levels, Curves, Layer Style and Content-Aware Fill are where you expect them.
Light and fast
The main app is about 35 KB gzipped, and heavy jobs such as PSD parsing and filters run in background workers, so the page stays responsive with large files.
Your files stay on your device
Images are opened and edited inside your browser. Even the AI background remover runs locally, so your photos are not uploaded to a server.
Web, Windows and Mac
Use it in any modern browser or install the desktop app for Windows and macOS. The Windows installer is about 9 MB, and the desktop app shows no ads.
Photobun was built for people who need serious editing tools without paying for a subscription for everyday work: designers fixing a client file, online sellers preparing product photos, teachers making worksheets and social media managers producing posts every day. Menus and keyboard shortcuts follow the industry-standard layout, so anyone who already edits images feels at home right away.
One tab can hold many boards. That makes batch work simple: open twenty product photos, select them all, and apply the same Image Size, adjustment or filter to every board in one step, then export each board as its own file.
Retouching tools include the Spot Healing Brush, Remove Tool, Patch, Clone Stamp and Content-Aware Fill. For colour there are Levels, Curves, Hue/Saturation, Selective Color and Gradient Map, plus a Blur Gallery with Field, Iris, Tilt-Shift, Path and Spin blur.
The interface is available in 11 languages, including Thai, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, and the font menu lists the fonts installed on your computer (desktop app, or Chrome and Edge on the web) together with the Google Fonts library.
Frequently asked questions
Is Photobun really free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use with no time limit and no watermark. The web version shows a few ads that never cover the canvas, and a one-time US$1 purchase removes them for good.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can open, edit and export images without signing up. An account is only needed if you want to buy the ad-free option.
Which file formats can I open and save?
Photobun opens PSD, PSB, PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF and SVG. It saves layered PSD or PSB files and exports PNG, JPEG or WebP at any quality and scale.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Editing, PSD reading and writing, and background removal all happen on your own device, inside the browser or the desktop app.
Can AI assistants use Photobun?
Yes. Photobun includes an MCP server, so Claude Code or Codex can open files, run any menu command and export results while you watch the document change.
