Edit PSD Files Online
Photobun is a free PSD editor that opens Photoshop files right in your browser. Layers, masks, blend modes and layer styles stay editable, and you can save back to PSD or PSB, so you can edit a PSD without Photoshop and hand it back to someone who uses it.
How to Edit PSD Files Online
- Click Open a PSD file, or drag a .psd or .psb file onto the page.
- Pick a layer in the Layers panel to move, hide, restyle or paint on it.
- Edit masks, blend modes, opacity and Layer Style effects directly, exactly as they were saved in the file.
- Choose File › Save As to write a PSD or PSB, or File › Export › Export As for PNG, JPEG or WebP.
Real layers, not a flat preview
Each layer opens with its name, opacity, blend mode and visibility. 8, 16 and 32-bit files are supported, so the PSD viewer and the PSD editor are the same tool.
Masks and styles round-trip
Layer masks, clipping masks and effects such as drop shadow, stroke, glow, bevel and gradient overlay are read from the file and written back when you save.
PSB for big documents
Large Document Format files open too, and you can save as PSB when a canvas is too big for a regular PSD.
Processed on your computer
PSD reading and saving run in a Web Worker on your own device, so client files are never uploaded to a server.
A common case: a designer sends a layered PSD and you only need to change a price, swap a photo or hide a layer. Paying for a Photoshop subscription for that is overkill. In Photobun you open the file, change the layer and save a PSD that the designer can still open and edit.
Photobun is also handy as a quick PSD viewer for checking deliverables, exporting individual layers or comparing versions. Open several PSDs at once and each one appears as its own board that you can inspect next to the others.
Standard commands such as Free Transform (Ctrl/⌘+T), Duplicate Layer (Ctrl/⌘+J), Merge Down (Ctrl/⌘+E) and Layer Style use the familiar shortcuts. Guides you add are saved in the PSD too, so layouts stay aligned when the file is opened in Photoshop again.
Frequently asked questions
How can I open a PSD file without Photoshop?
Open Photobun in your browser and drop the PSD on the page, or use File › Open. It reads the layers, so you can view and edit the file, then save it again as PSD or export a PNG or JPEG.
Will my PSD keep its layers after saving?
Yes. Layers, layer groups, adjustment layers, opacity, blend modes, visibility, layer masks, clipping masks, layer styles and guides are written back to the PSD.
Is anything not supported yet?
Smart objects and CMYK colour are not supported yet. If a file depends heavily on those, check the result before sending it on.
How do I convert a PSD to PNG or JPG?
Open the PSD and choose File › Export › Export As. Pick PNG, JPEG or WebP, set the quality and scale, and save. Quick Export gives you a PNG in one click.
