Resize Image Online
Photobun's image resizer changes the size of photos in pixels, centimetres, millimetres or inches while keeping the proportions. Resize one picture or a whole batch, set the resolution for print, then export as JPEG, PNG or WebP, free and without uploading your files.
How to Resize Image Online
- Click Open an image; the Image Size dialog opens straight away.
- Enter a new width or height and the other side follows to keep the aspect ratio.
- Pick a unit (px, in, cm, mm, pt or pica) and a resolution in ppi if the image is for print.
- Click OK, then use File › Export › Export As to save a JPEG, PNG or WebP.
Exact sizes for any platform
Type the pixel size you need, or start from a template for Instagram posts and stories, YouTube thumbnails, Facebook covers and more.
Print sizes and DPI
Work in centimetres, millimetres or inches with a ppi resolution, or switch off Resample to change the print size without touching the pixels.
Batch resize
Open several photos as boards, select them and run Image Size once. Every selected board is scaled by the same factor.
Sharp results
Downscaling uses high-quality, step-by-step resampling, and Free Transform always rescales a layer from its original pixels, so repeated changes don't blur it.
Different places want different sizes: 1080 × 1350 for an Instagram portrait post, 1280 × 720 for a YouTube thumbnail, 1640 × 624 for a Facebook cover, or 2480 × 3508 pixels for an A4 page at 300 ppi. Photobun's templates create boards at these sizes, so you can place a photo and export without guesswork.
Resizing and changing the canvas are different operations. Image Size scales the whole picture; Canvas Size adds or removes space around it without scaling. If you need a square image from a rectangular photo, crop it first or extend the canvas, then resize.
For websites, resizing a camera photo to the size it is actually displayed at and exporting it as WebP makes the file far smaller. That speeds up pages and helps you stay under upload limits on forms, marketplaces and email.
Frequently asked questions
How do I resize an image without losing quality?
Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Enlarging can't add detail that isn't there, so upscale only as much as you need and export as PNG or high-quality WebP to avoid extra compression.
Can I resize a photo to a size in cm or inches?
Yes. Choose cm, mm or inches in Image Size and set the resolution, for example 300 ppi for print. Photobun works out the pixel size for you.
Can I also reduce the file size?
Yes. Smaller dimensions combined with WebP or JPEG export at a lower quality setting produce much lighter files. WebP is usually the smallest for the same visual quality.
Will resizing stretch my photo?
Not unless you want it to. Enter only the width or the height and the other value follows. To change the shape instead, use Canvas Size or the Crop Tool.
